Privacy Policy

Unstranger (“we,” “us”) is an app that generates conversation openers. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data to the minimum the app needs to work.

Information we collect

• Account. When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive your email address and a sign-in identifier so we can create and secure your account.
• Profile.The details you set in the app — your gender and who you’re looking to meet — so the openers can be tailored.
• Prompts and photos. The situation text and any photos you attach to generate openers. Photos are sent to our AI provider for analysis in the moment and are not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
• Location (optional).If you tap “Use my location,” we read your approximate or precise location once and convert it to a general area (city or neighborhood) to tailor openers to where you are. It is used in the moment and not stored.
• Voice input (optional). If you use the microphone to speak the situation, speech-to-text runs on your device. The audio is not recorded, stored, or sent to us — only the resulting text is used, exactly like text you type.
• Usage. Timestamped records of your generation requests, used only to enforce fair-use rate limits.
• Subscriptions and a device identifier. If you subscribe to Plus, our subscription provider assigns an identifier to your app installation and receives the purchase record from the App Store or Google Play. That is how the app knows your subscription is active, and how it stays active when you reinstall or switch devices. We do not use this identifier for advertising, and the app does not request the Android advertising ID.

How we use it

• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To generate openers tailored to your tone, situation, and profile.
• To prevent abuse and apply per-user rate limits.
• To keep your Plus subscription in sync across your devices.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Service providers

We share data only with the providers that run the app, each for the purpose above:

• Supabase — authentication and database (your account, profile, and usage records).
• Vercel — hosting for our website and API.
• OpenRouter & Anthropic — AI processing of your prompt text and photos to generate openers.
• Apple & Google — sign-in, if you choose those methods, and payment processing for subscriptions.
• Adapty — subscription management: it receives the app installation identifier and your store purchase record so we can tell whether Plus is active.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account, profile, and usage records until you delete your account. When you delete your account, this data is removed. Photos are processed transiently and are not retained. To request deletion, contact us at privacy@unstranger.app.

Children

Unstranger is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your profile in the app, and request full account deletion at any time by contacting us.

Changes

We may update this policy; we’ll revise the date above when we do.
